CWA passenger service agents worked hard last year to get language included in the FAA Reauthorization Act to protect agents from assault.

In June 2019 CWA Next Generation and District 3 co-sponsored a new training targeted to the needs of young union members. The participants included two passenger service agents, Jasiman Turner (Piedmont, CLT) and Richard Sanjuan (AA, MIA).
Tragedy visited our CWA Agents family on Sunday, August 11, when passenger service agent Kendrick Darrell Hudson died on the job at Charlotte Douglas International airport. Agents honored his memory at a vigil on August 18.

As of January 1, 2019, new protections from assault went into effect for passenger service agents across the country. Since January, we have been meeting with American Airlines to determine exactly how we will implement tools and policies to make the assault protections a reality at all our airports.
On January 4-7, 2019, CWA Local 3645 hosted over 50 shop stewards from 22 stations in District 3 at its third annual Steward Leadership Conference in Charlotte, NC. The training was designed to help stewards clearly understand the details of the new Piedmont contract.

On October 3, 2018, the Senate overwhelmingly passed a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization bill that included critical protections from assault for passenger service agents. The bill also included a long-needed increase in the minimum rest period for flight attendants.
Piedmont passenger service agents ratified a new contract last November. The road to an agreement wasn’t easy, but we can be proud of the solidarity we built among agents throughout the process. I’d like to share some of our lessons learned along the way.
Our new collective bargaining agreement was signed on November 5th and raises went into effect on the date. Raises and lump sum bonuses will be reflected in our November 23 paychecks.
We have just received the election results from BallotPoint, the independent company that oversaw the voting process. We are pleased to report that the Tentative Agreement between our union and Piedmont has been ratified.
