President Biden moved the deadline for states to make all adults eligible to get a coronavirus vaccine to April 19. To encourage employees to be vaccinated, American Airlines announced an incentive program that applies to all American Airlines Group employees based in the United States, including those at Envoy and Piedmont.
It’s been a year since the global COVID-19 pandemic began turning our industry and our lives upside down, and CWA airline agents have been on the front lines at stations across the country. Recently we had a chance to talk to some American and Piedmont agents who have been in the trenches, dealing with COVID-19 and other health and safety issues.
A total of 250 passenger service agents received scholarships from the CWA National Education and Training Trust CWA/NETT) in the past few months. The agents took advantage of the funds to pursue new knowledge and brush up on valuable skills.

Justice Department confirmed that passenger service agents are, in fact, covered by legislation adopted in 2002 that set significant penalties and jail time for anyone who "interferes with airport and airline personnel who have security duties."
Bargaining begins later this year for Piedmont agents. As we draw closer to bargaining, mobilizing could not be more important.
Since June, CWA members have collected more than 1,500 signatures on a petition demanding that Congress pass a national standard protecting airport customer service agents from what is commonly known as “airport rage.”
Piedmont agents have been busy throughout May and June signing mobilization cards. Agents are joining committees and signing on to be part of the mobilization effort that is rolling out this summer in anticipation of bargaining later this year.
As we approach the start of contract bargaining later this year, it’s more important than ever that every member get involved. The stakes could not be higher. We’ll be fighting for fair wages and better working conditions for every Piedmont agent.
